⛵Within a course, you'll get 6 hours of sailing class and 2 hours of STEAM class. ⛵
Description
Welcome to HK's first STEM / STEAM Sport Stomper Program that connects the sports children play and compete in with the STEAM skills they learn in classroom. Our STEAM curriculum aligns with NGSS standards.
How does a sailboat go forward against the wind? Will the size of the sail affect the speed? Indeed, there are so many STEM concepts that go into sailing: physics, density, buoyancy, wind power, electricity, battery, marine biology, and more.
In this beginner course, you will set sail on the beautiful ocean with certified sailing instructor of both UK Royal Yachting Association and Hong Kong Sailing Federation (who has over 2,000 nautical miles of offshore sailing experience and
over 2,000 racing hours as skipper). We will incorporate different aspects of sailing into helping you understand the STEM concepts behind the sport. Ship ahoy!
Content of sailing class:
- Boat parts (incl. pulley and winch) and respective functions
- Points of sailing
- How to set up and prepare the boat
